Polish Wedding Customs

The bride meeting itself is often accompanied by both a religious and civil services, but there are many different norms that make up polish ceremony discover this beliefs. One of the most prominent polish wedding traditions is the Oczepiny (unveiling of the wedding). Another standard Polish bride convention is zmowiny – this is where the parents of the groom and bride meet for the first time. The maitre d' or group leader likely reveal the parents, who therefore come to a smaller table with bread and salt. The bakery symbolizes the hope that the couple does never encounter hunger and the salt reminds them that life will sometimes be tricky and they must learn to cope together.

After the presentation of bread and salt, the partners has their second toast- typically this is a shot of vodka passed from person to person. The couple drinks from their glasses and, according to tradition, whoever ends up with the glass of vodka will wear the pants in the relationship!
